    Reds Review:

I don’t read paranormal. I’m not a fan of the fantasy, unrealistic world in many of the PNR I have tried to read previously. The One is not set in the fantastical world. It is written in the modern world with a believable story. Vampires that hide among us mortals.
I love this story. I guess I can’t say I don’t like or read PNR anymore. I now have a PNR style I like and this is it.

The One grabbed my attention the minute I saw the cover. The story within the pages kept me up all night.

Book CoverSebastian is everything I want in a book boyfriend. Sexy, funny, protective and oh btw, a blood sucking vampire. The sex is blazing hot. A must have in my romance books.

Adriel’s has a strong personality . She has a lot going on yet she doesn’t cower away. I’m anxious to learn more about her and how she will fit into the vampire world with Sebastian.

As is Zane Michaelson’s style, he left me wanting more and will keep me waiting a month or so for answers. It’s not a frustrating cliffhanger and thankfully he never makes his fans wait too long.
As they say ‘Anything worth having is worth waiting for’
    Well, I’m waiting…..

If you believe you don’t like paranormal, as I did, I highly recommend you give this story a try. It might change your mind too.

Zane Michaelson continues to amaze me by writing different genres within the romance world. The One highlights his versatility and ability to conquer any genre he wishes to explore. As a fan of his writing, he has unknowingly coaxed me out of my reading comfort zone with each new sub genre he writes.

    THE ONE

    by Zane Michaelson

For over three hundred years, Sebastian Fernández has meandered through his immortal life, taking blood as and when he needs to.

To kill a human being is forbidden by the Vampyre Council-the sentence for disobedience swift and final.

One day, while admiring a small silver cross inside an antique store, he meets its proprietor, Adriel Zilkha.

There is something about her that draws him in.

Adriel is no ordinary human female and embodies gifts she cannot explain.

Shocked, Sebastian knows law demands he inform the Vampyre Council of his discovery. The price for treachery is to die by sunlight.

Loathe to sentence the beautiful and mysterious Adriel to certain death, he calls on his old friend and sire, Sienna, for help.

They say your first kiss should be earned.

Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.

They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.

Mine were broken before we left church.

They say your heart only beats for one man.

Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.

I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit.

Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.

They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.

I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.

    One kiss.

    Two men.

    Three lives.

    Entwined together.

And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.

    Excerpt
“Are you sure you’re on my card?” I turned to the man with a polite yet distant smile. I was still disoriented from the exchange with Angelo when the stranger pulled me against his hard body and pressed a possessive hand lower than socially acceptable on my back, a second from groping my butt.

    “Answer me,” I hissed.

“My bid on your card was the highest,” he replied dryly.

“The bids are undisclosed. You don’t know how much other people have paid,” I kept my lips pursed to keep myself from yelling.

“I know it’s nowhere near the realm of what this dance is worth.”

    Un-freaking-believable.

We began to waltz around the room as other couples were not only spinning and mingling but also stealing envious glances at us. Naked, raw ogles that told me that whomever the blonde he’d come to the masquerade with was, she wasn’t his wife. And that I might have been all the rage in The Outfit, but the rude man was in high demand, too.

I was stiff and cold in his arms, but he didn’t seem to notice—or mind. He knew how to waltz better than most men, but he was technical, and lacked warmth and Angelo’s playfulness.

“Nemesis.” He took me by surprise, his rapacious gaze stripping me bare. “Distributing glee and dealing misery. Seems at odds with the submissive girl who entertained Bishop and his horsey wife at the table.”

I choked on my own saliva. Did he just call the governor’s wife horsey? And me submissive? I looked away, ignoring the addictive scent of his cologne, and the way his marble body felt against mine.

“Nemesis is my spirit animal. She was the one to lure Narcissus to a pool where he saw his own reflection and died of vanity. Pride is a terrible illness.” I flashed him a taunting smirk.

“Some of us could use catching it.” He bared his straight white teeth.

“Arrogance is a disease. Compassion is the cure. Most gods didn’t like Nemesis, but that’s because she had a backbone.”

“Do you?” He arched a dark eyebrow.

“Do I…?” I blinked, the courteous grin on my face crumpling. He was even ruder when we were alone.

“Have a backbone,” he provided. He stared at me so boldly and intimately, it felt like he breathed fire into my soul. I wanted to step out of his touch and jump into a pool full of ice.

“Of course, I do,” I responded, my spine stiffening. “What’s with the manners? Were you raised by wild coyotes?”

“Give me an example,” he said, ignoring my quip. I was beginning to draw away from him, but he jerked me back into his arms. The glitzy ballroom distorted into a backdrop, and even though I was starting to notice that the man behind the demi-mask was unusually beautiful, the ugliness of his behavior was the only thing that stood out.

I am a warrior and a lady…and a sane person who can deal with this horrid man.

“I really like Angelo Bandini.” I dropped my voice, slicing my gaze from his eyes and toward the table where Angelo’s family had been seated. My father was sitting a few seats away, staring at us coldly, surrounded by Made Men who chatted away.

“And see, in my family, we have a tradition dating back ten generations. Prior to her wedding, a Rossi bride is to open a wooden chest—carved and made by a witch who lived in my ancestors’ Italian village—and read three notes written to her by the last Rossi girl to marry. It’s kind of a good luck charm mixed with a talisman and a bit of fortunetelling. I stole the chest tonight and opened one of the notes, all so I could rush fate. It said that tonight I was going to be kissed by the love of my life, and well…” I drew my lower lip into my mouth and sucked it, peering under my eyelashes at Angelo’s empty seat. The man stared at me stoically, as though I was a foreign film he couldn’t understand. “I’m going to kiss him tonight.”

    “That’s your backbone?”

“When I have an ambition, I go for it.”

A conceited frown crinkled his mask, as if to say I was a complete and utter moron. I looked him straight in the eye. My father taught me that the best way to deal with men like him was to confront, not run. Because, this man? He’d chase.

    Reds Review

The Playbook picks up right where Up to Bat ended. We were left wondering what will happen with Sam. All of the questions you asked and waited anxiously to know the answers to are revealed but not everything will be as you expect. Maggie Jane Schuler does an amazing job of keeping the readers on their toes in this romantic suspense filled book.

I fell in love with Blake and Sam while reading book 1. I can relate to Sam’s innocence and instant love for Blake. My whole heart wants them to find their HEA. Their whirlwind romance compounded by the stress and drama surrounding the pair made me read on and on into the night just waiting to see who is responsible for the chaos. Who is causing the problems which seems to be following Sam where ever she goes?

My favorite part of this entire series is the relationship Sam has with her late brother, Mitch. Mitch was killed on 9/11 but he is still a strong presence in Sam’s life. Their time around the baseball field in Sam’s dreams aids in painting the picture the author is laying before you. The admiration Sam has for her big brother shines through even the darkest times. His guidance in those dreams helps piece together the story and understand Sam’s way of thinking.

I have no doubt the desire to solve the puzzle within this book will keep you turning pages.

Amazing ending to The Diamond Series. I can’t wait to read more from Maggie Jane Schuler.

  • Red’s Author Chit Chat with Marci Belle

Red’s Author Chit Chat with Marci Belle

Hi Marci, I am so happy to have to with us today. I was one of the lucky ones to read your debut Delicious and I fell in love instantly. Food, cooking and sex! Yes please. I just finished Earth and Desire, your latest book. Amazing! Let’s get to this interview. I can’t wait to learn more about you.
    1) What genre do you write and when did you start writing?
Marci: Contemporary Romance. I’ve written poetry since childhood, except it got dirtier as I grew older. I didn’t take it seriously until I started culture blogging 4 years ago, and I only just started writing romance last November.
Red: I didn’t know we had blogging in common. No wonder we have bonded.
    2) Do you have a favorite book that you have written?
Marci: “Delicious is my favorite. I love the cast of characters and the protagonists are pretty sexy. It’s based around food, London and California which was easy for me to make happen because I’m a California girl based in England who loves food.
It was also hilarious at points. At least it was in my head. I felt like it was my true writing voice as well. Although that is still developing. The actual plot was mad and really fun to write too.
Red: Ok, now I am starting to think we are twins separated at birth since I am a born and raised Californian.
    3) Do you have a favorite character from your books? How do you select the names of your characters?
Marci: Well, Jack Connors in Earth & Desire is my favorite character to be honest. He’s earthy and has a very unusual magnetism about him. He’s not your typical character. He’s an Irish Traveler and brings a lot to the table.
I try to be a bit realistic about names. Geography and culture has a lot to do with naming a character. Although, the names can sometimes form a character. I feel that coming on in my future books because I have some great ideas that need interesting characters.
Red: I fell in love with Jack. His subtle calmness drew me in.
    4) What is your favorite part of being a published author?
Marci: Having people say they love your work.
Red: Well let me just say, “I love your work”. LOL
    5) Where is the strangest place you had a book or character idea come to you?
Marci: My head. Seriously, it’s a pretty strange place.
    Red: Great answer!
    6) I am sure you dont sit with a timer but if you had to guess how long does it take for you to write a book?
Marci: I’m not as organized as other authors, I’m only just getting this right, but I would say that when I am writing, I write about 3 hours a day. A novella can take me about 3 weeks. Sad right? I have to be into the story and sometimes there are those mental block things.
Red: Being organized is hard. If you find the secret to that mystery please let me know.
    7) Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
Marci: I do. I am a firm believer in constructive criticism. My Betas I think have saved me from brutal criticism because so far I love all my reviews. Of course, I haven’t read all the reviews for my new release.
Red: Here is my review of Earth and Desire- I loved it!Earth & Desire
Marci Belle continues to keep me turning the pages of her books. The way she describes the characters and the scenes paints a picture that allows me to dive into this story like a movie set. I had a clear picture of who Jack is and why he was such a great man for Annie. I love that he isn’t overpowering, just a calm man who is falling in love with a women who is content to let it happen. Earth and Desire is a sexy easy to read book that I highly recommend.
    8) What do you do what you suffer from writer’s block?
Marci: Go out and have fun. What’s the point in sitting around and dwelling? Or I read, because there’s always inspiration in another author’s work. I find I’m relaxed and when I’m ready, well, I’m ready.
Red: Secret? I was struggling with blogging block and I jumped in and finished our interview. You helped me today and you didn’t even know it.
    9) Which of your books do you wish more readers were aware of?
Marci: Delicious. I think it’s a great first read.
Red: I recommend Earth and Desire too! Can’t wait to see what else you have for your readers
    10) Did you have a mentor when you started?
Marci: Yes. I love my mentor. Jade West is still my mentor. I worship the ground she walks on. Aren’t I just the luckiest?
Red: Yes! You are lucky! Jade is amazing! I have been a fan of hers from the beginning. Dirty Bad Wrong is on the top of my list. I remember waiting for her release and then devoured it. Oops sorry, I was fangirling. Please tell Jade I love her…. maybe you can introduce us and I can interview her soon… hint hint.
    11) What advice would you give an aspiring author?
Marci: Hang on tight and keep persevering. Also, find a mentor. Facebook has started a new mentoring program for writers. I’m open to more mentors so I’ve signed up. One thing that was told to me was to read. Read a LOT.
    Red: Great advice.
    12) What can we expect from you in the future?
Marci: Well I’m doing a Christmas anthology that will be full of amazing dark romances by amazing authors. I just can’t reveal who. I’m surprised at how much I’m enjoying writing the darkness. I also am working on a full-length after that. Terrifying.
Red: Something different for you fans is always fun.
    13) Tell us something fun. Anything that can make us smile or giggle. Life is too short, lets spread some smiles around.
Marci: I just found out that cold showers help men produce more testosterone are rather helpful in the bedroom.
Red: And here we thought is was just to cool off.
    14) Anything Else?
Marci: Please help support indie authors like myself. It’s a rough ride without support form the book community. Trust me, we appreciate you all.
Red: I agree! It’s a give and take and I appreciate the support I receive from the indie authors too.
Thanks for sharing with us Marci! I look forward to reading more of you books.
    ~Red xoxo

A Stand Alone, Enemies to lovers Novella for the foodie in us all.
    Reds Review
Two of my favorite things, food and sex. OK 3, hot man! Marci Belle brings us into the mind of Evie the food critic. How she meets the one man she should have never met, let a lone fall for. Reading this story kept me looking for more about each of these main characters. Great quick read and definitely left me wanting to see what else this author has for me in the future.
    About the Marci Belle
A California native living in beautiful England. One of the many things that keep me busy is my English-born daughter who likes to correct me when I don’t say things the British way. “Mum, it’s tea not dinner, and dinner not lunch.” Do you feel my pain? There’s also my jazz singer, artist, spiritual daughter who broke my heart when she grew up and moved back to California. She refuses to read my naughty books. I think we can all agree that is wise of her. I love to write sultry contemporary romances made up of characters I’ve observed over a pint of Hereford cider or a spot of lunch in this foreign world I inhabit. And of course, I like to create amazing American characters inspired by the melting pot I grew up in. Throughout the years’ people have repeatedly suggested I write my life story, but I prefer to put a little bit of myself into each book. You wouldn’t believe me if I told you anyway.
